My experience has introduced me to a world of dedicated people and organizations that are out there on the forefront spreading the word about sun safety, supporting and advocating for those with melanoma and searching for new treatments.  When I decided to take this walk, it was my hope to find a way to benefit a number of different organizations, all of which are tackling melanoma in their own way.

If you would simply prefer to send a general donation directly to me, I will divide what I collect between the organizations and make a final donation at the end of the event.

Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF)

  • Supports medical research, finding effective treatments and eventually a cure for melanoma (gave $1 million in funding for research grants);
  • Educates patients and physicians about the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of melanoma; manages Melanoma Patients Information Page (MPIP), an international melanoma chat room and source of support and information.
  • Acts in an advocacy role maintaining a presence in Washington D.C.

  • ACS supports research, education, advocacy, and services to cancer patients and families across the country when they need it most.
  • Relay for Life is a 24 hour long, candle-lit walking event of celebration, remembrance and hope.
  • I will co-captain a Relay team July 26/27, 2008 in Napa
